Hiking to Berryessa Peak

Mar 18, 2021 at 9:50pm

Berryessa Peak is located along the Blue Ridge, directly east of Lake Berryessa. This ridge is the border between Yolo and Napa Counties. At 3057', it is the second highest point on the Blue Ridge and is easily identifiable by the radio towers at the top.

Berryessa Peak is accessed via the Berryessa Peak Trail, located on Berryessa Knoxville Road, north of Lake Berryessa. This 7.2-mile trail (ONE WAY) starts on land managed by California Department of Fish and Wildlife before entering Bureau of Land Management land. At one point, the trail ventures onto private land but Tuleyome worked with the land owners to get an easement which allows the trail to continue over barbed wire fencing via a stile. (Be sure to stay on the trail!) Near the peak, the trail intersects with a gravel road for the last 1.2 miles.

The views from the top are worth the effort. Hikers should be in excellent physical condition before attempting this hike - there is no access to water.
