The first tool, the GDE Pulse tool, is a free, interactive web-based map of the state displaying the health of groundwater dependent ecosystems – GDEs. The tool includes vegetation data as well as other native terrestrial and aquatic species information. It also includes available groundwater level data from nearby monitoring wells. GDEs are important beneficial users of groundwater as they provide both recreational opportunities and habitat. Groundwater sustainability agencies can use the GDE Pulse tool to summarize complex data to support informed decision making.

The second tool featured during the webinar was a case study explaining how an algorithmic tool is helping facilitate California’s first groundwater market under the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act.
