Winters Salmon Festival 2018

In December of 2012, fall-run Chinook salmon finally returned in significant numbers to the lower reaches of Putah Creek. The salmon could be seen spawning right near Winters Putah Creek Park and even from the car bridge. The return of the salmon may be attributed to the combined efforts of the annual removal of the Los Rios check dam flash boards, increased flows from the Putah Diversion Dam, and enhancement of the riparian and spawning areas within Putah Creek. These efforts are the work of The City of Winters, Solano County Water Agency, Winters Putah Creek Committee, Lower Putah Creek Coordinating Committee, Putah Creek Council, landowners, hundreds of volunteers and many more. The Winters Salmon Festival celebrates the return of the salmon and our community’s efforts by coming together for great food, entertainment, education, and all-things salmon!
