Wetland Delineation at Rush Ranch

Fri, Sep 21st 2018, all day
3521 Grizzly Island Rd, Suisun City, CA 94585

Learn to use the US Army Corps of Engineers method of delineating wetlands, which means you will be looking for wetland vegetation, signs of wetland hydrology, and wetland soils. You will have opportunities for plant identification and for learning some basic soil science and hydrology principles. You will need to do some digging, so please wear sturdy shoes. You will be using the texture by feel method to determine soil texture, so get ready to make some scientific mud pies and get down and dirty!

Meet at 8:30 in the Rush Ranch parking lot (3521 Grizzly Island Rd, Suisun City, CA 94585). There will a carpool to the site. There will be opportunities for light to moderate hiking as we traverse the restoration site, which is situated in rolling hills. Please bring water, sunscreen, and clothes you don't mind getting a little dirty.
