Audubon Bird Walk: Kennedy Park
About the walk (from NSAS): Kennedy Park is paved with parks and trees tracing the course of the Napa River. Marshes line the exterior boundaries of the park. Napa College forms its eastern border and a golf course to the south. We explore the many aspects of the park. We are likely to see Western Gull, California Gull, Black-Crowned Night-Heron, Western Bluebird, Song Sparrow, Common Yellowthroat, Snowy Egret, Great Egret and a plethora of waterfowl and shorebirds in the mudflats. Black Rail is an uncommon, but not unheard of, addition in the marshes. Osprey, White-Tailed Kite, Northern Harrier, Red-Tailed Hawk and Red-Shouldered Hawk patrol the skies and marshes.
The temperature will reach the mid-70s, so please bring water. We will be walking in mostly open space, so please remain hydrated and wear sunscreen. Please comfortable, yet sturdy, hiking shoes. Mosquitoes are out in force so please bring bug spray. The recent fires in Northern California have made the skies smoky so those with breathing issues should wear a mask.
Please meet at the furthest parking lot near the boat launch no later than 0805.

Carpool Instructions and Departure Times:
Carpools are participant-organized; NSAS leaders will not necessarily be present. Carpools should depart the meeting location at the suggested time, so be early if you want to share a ride! There is no guarantee that there will be another individual arriving at the carpool location. Below is a list of the three suggested carpool locations and suggested times of departure.
Napa Carpool

Meet on the EAST SIDE of Sweeney's Sports Store in the Riverpark Shopping Center.
Cordelia Carpool
Depart: 7:30
Solano Education Building, 5100 Business Center Drive, Fairfield
Soon after you get onto Business Center Drive, turn right into the parking lot for the Education Building.
Vallejo Carpool
Depart: 7:45
Baskin-Robbins, 5182 Sonoma Blvd, Vallejo
At the intersection of Sonoma Blvd. & Meadows Drive, turn east into the shopping plaza (previous Wal-Mart location).
NOTE: Car-poolers will share driving expenses, so bring some small bills if you plan to carpool. We also encourage a small donation for the trip leader to help offset his costs.
