Audubon Field Trip to Rodman Preserve

Sat, Sep 22nd 2018, 9:00am
6350 Westlake Road, Upper Lake 95485

Rodman Preserve, owned by Lake County Land Trust, is not open to the general public. The main purpose of the acquisition project was to preserve the natural habitat of the Rodman Ranch and Preserve and to facilitate the continued health and existence of the many nesting, breeding, and feeding areas for wildlife.

This easy 1.1 mile hike takes about 90-minutes, looping around an oak-studded hillside with panoramic vistas of the Rodman Slough and the north end of Clear Lake, across to Bartlett Springs.  From local history to flora and fauna galore, there is something here for everyone.

Members of Redbud Audubon will join them for our walk, and then they will enjoy lunch on the porch of the Nature Center. Our leader is generously providing drinks.

This is a great opportunity to meet fellow birders from Lake County and tour a new area.

Bring binocs, hat, water and lunch!

Carpool:

Leaves Sweeney’s in Napa  at 7:00 am.

For more information or questions, email Wendy Cole and to RSVP

Take Hwy 29 to Middletown, and then 175 over the mountain back to Hwy 29. Take the Nice-Lucerne Cut-off off of Highway 29, between Lakeport and Upper Lake. Turn east onto the Nice-Lucerne Cut-off, then left on to Westlake Road. The preserve entry is to the immediate right after turning on to Westlake. Do not go to Rodman Park which is further down the cutoff.
