Webinar: Monitoring Water Quality via Novel bio-Optics Platform for Ecosystem Services

Thu, Aug 30th 2018, 12:00pm - 12:30pm
Cal EPA Building, Training Room 1 East/West, 1st Floor 1001 I Street, Sacramento, CA

A novel bio-optics geospatial analytics platform leverages contemporary remote sensing, modelling and decision support and is being used to evaluate, monitor and report compliance to water quality legislation globally in mixed agricultural and municipal landscapes.

CROP Performance has been monitoring post fire flood risk management in California since the autumn of 2017 with solutions that form the basis of an early warning systems for evacuation, recovery and resilience for whole communities.  The solution includes forecasting recovery rates of vegetation, assessing ongoing critical infrastructure risk and monitoring the cumulative impacts to water resources.

Bio-optical modelling provides predictive analytics for pre-fire risk management to inform mitigation practices to proactively manage vegetation, fuel loads and soils in advance of a fire event.  It also provides post fire flood, land slide and mud slide risk management solutions that inform erosion control practices given current and anticipated future sediment flows in post fire storm conditions.

CROP Performance has been monitoring erosion, runoff, nutrient and sediment loading, and biological conditions (pH, temperature, dissolved oxygen) to support water quality and fish habitat at the catchment scale for 10 years in the United States, Canada, and Europe.
