Native Plant Nursery Event

Sat, Aug 25th 2018, 9:30am - 12:00pm
5800 Chiles Road Davis, CA 95618

At the Putah Creek Nursery, they do a variety of tasks including: propagating, potting up, seeding, weeding, trimming, organizing, watering, and otherwise caring for native plants that will be used on habitat improvement projects. Nursery events are held at CALFIRE's Lewis Moran Reforestation Facility at 5800 Chiles Road in Davis.

Putah Creek Council, in partnership with Lower Putah Creek Coordinating Committee, grows a variety of native plants for use in our habitat enhancement project sites throughout the Putah Creek watershed.

All plants in the nursery are propagated from seeds and cuttings taken from plants growing in the Putah-Cache basin. All plants are propagated, transplanted, weeded, and otherwise cared for by community volunteers - just like you!

During the rainy season, December - April, plants from the nursery will be planted along Putah Creek and regional projects in hedgerows or mass plantings to create wildlife habitat, attract pollinators beneficial to agriculture, and improve water quality by preventing erosion and illegal vehicle trespass.
