This course expands upon the previous segment (a??Water Quality Monitoring Designa?? course), to include hands-on exercises for selected steps in the process of planning a water quality monitoring Project.

Participants will formulate a specific monitoring study question, and apply guidance documents, systematic planning tools, templates, labor & budget spreadsheets, and check-lists to develop the core parts of a Monitoring Plan. The Group Exercises will focus on making decisions regarding where and when to monitor, selecting characteristics that are good indicators, making decisions regarding sampling intervals and number of samples, selecting quality objectives and measurement systems, and managing labor needs and budget allocation.

Prerequisite: Completion of the UC Berkeley Extension two-day course Water Quality Monitoring Design
