Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, which means "the whole universe is one family" is a theme that Chairman Pachauri often quotes to define global efforts to protect the globe from climate change. Dr. Pachauri will discuss the need for collective scientific endeavors, the need for shaping necessary public policy for sustainable development to meet effective objectives toward lowering the global impacts of climate change asserting that threats to health and the global economy are too great if robust global action is not taken.
Rajendra Pachauri, Ph.D., is Chairman of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). On behalf of the IPCC, co-received the coveted Nobel Peace Prize with former Vice President, Albert Arnold Gore, Jr. in December 2007. Dr. Pachauri is also the Director-General of The Energy and Resources Institute - an institute dedicated to sustainable development.
