Where is the Water in Our Streams?

Mon, May 5th 2008, 6:00pm - 8:45pm
The Living Rivers Council will sponsor an evening with an expert fisheries biologist of California's North Coast streams, Patrick Higgins who will present concerns with diminishing fresh water supplies of California's North coast. Three case studies including the Napa River will be presented. Vineyards are placing a high water demand on streams along with over 1,771 illegal water diversion/dams (throughout Napa, Marin, Sonoma, Mendocino and Humboldt counties) Drought and global warming are additionally plaguing North coast streams and putting our fresh water resources in peril. Learn about and discuss information pertaining to the State Water Resource Control Board's (SWRCB) new draft policies for Maintaining Instream Flows for North Coast Streams. Rarely does the public have an opportunity to influence water laws. New regulations will impact all who rely on water availability.
