Bird Walk
Huichica is a network of tidal and treatment ponds that are part of the Napa-Sonoma Marshes complex. There is always much to see. Shorebirds and waterfowl will be feeding and roosting around the ponds. Song Sparrow, White-Tailed Kite, Red-Tailed Hawk, Northern Harrier, and American pipit are likely to be seen. Bald Eagle, Peregrine Falcon, Merlin, Shote-Eared Owl, and Eurasian Wigeon have been seen. Waterfowl and and marsh birds have been seen in the cattle pond.
No rain is predicted in the forecast. The weather is projected to be cold throughout the day. Bring warm clothing. Water and sun screen is a necessity; binoculars are a must. Mosquitoes have been seen lately flying around, so bug spray may be needed. Please wear comfortable, yet sturdy hiking boots or shoes. Please dress accordingly to the weather and location.

Carpools are participant-organized; NSAS leaders will not necessarily be present. Carpools should depart the meeting location at the suggested time, so be early if you want to share a ride! There is no guarantee that there will be another individual arriving at the car pool location. Below is a list of the three suggested car pool locations and suggested times of departure.

Napa Carpool
Depart: 7:45am
Sweeny’s Sports Store, 1537 Imola Ave West, Napa
Meet on the EAST SIDE of Sweeney's Sport Store in the Riverpark Shopping Center.
Directions from Sweeny's: Turn rght out of parking lot heading west towards Hwy 121. Turn right at the first stoplight to get onto Sonoma Hwy/Hwy 12. Follow hwy for 2.4 miles and turn left on Duhig Rd. . Follow Duhig and turn left on Las Amigas. Follow Las Amigas for .5 miles and turn on to Buchli Station Rd. Follow Buchli Station all the way to the until it dead ends at the gravel lot. Park in the gravel lot area and do not block gates.
Cordelia Carpool

Soon after you get onto Business Center Drive, turn right into the parking lot for the Education Building.
Vallejo Carpool
