Bird Walk at Lake Hennessey

Sat, Jun 17th 2017, 8:00am - 12:00am
Lake Hennessey, Conn Creek side of the lake, 1798 Conn Valley Rd, St Helena.

Lake Hennessey is a trail around the lake that explores open grassland, oak woodland and of course, open bodies of water. Migration is winding down and many of the local nesting birds are taking care of their fledglings. Bald Eagle, Osprey, Clark's and Western Grebe, Lazuli Bunting are some of the birds likely to be seen.

The weather is projected to be in the 90s toward the afternoon. Light jackets for the morning and water are recommended; binoculars are a must. The trail is flat for most of the way with patches of shade.  Ticks and mosquitoes are always looming in the grass and air, so please bring bug spray. Please wear comfortable, yet sturdy hiking boots or shoes. Please dress accordingly to the weather and location.

Carpools are participant-organized; NSAS leaders will not necessarily be present. Carpools should depart the meeting location at the suggested time, so be early if you want to share a ride! There is no guarantee that there will be another individual arriving at the car pool location. Below is a list of the three suggested car pool locations and suggested times of departure.
