Wildlife Ecology in the Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument Region

Sat, Mar 11th 2017, 9:30am - 1:30pm
Redbud Trailhead (Hwy 20, Clearlake Oaks, CA)

On March 11, the public is invited to learn how wildfires affect ecosystems. The Bureau of Land Management will be on hand with some of the tools used to fight fires and to share some of the strategies for managing future wildfires in the region. A guided hike along the Redbud Trail, an area burned in the wildfires of 2015, will provide a first-hand view of the effects of a fire and how the area is recovering. Some early season wildflowers could make the hike very colorful!

The event is expected to last about 4 hours – participants should be prepared for a hike with water, snacks and lunch. This event has been made possible through a grant from the National Environmental Education Foundation.
