Bird Walk - Lagoon Valley Regional Park/Pena Adobe

Sun, Jan 29th 2017, 8:00am - 12:00pm
Lagoon Valley Regional Park; 4699 Pena Adobe Rd., Vacaville, CA 95687

Lagoon Valley consists of many hiking trails among the hills and canyons and groves of mixed conifers and deciduous trees. With the recent rains the resevoir at the park is filled to capacity. Waterfowl abound inside the park right now. Oaks, redbuds, and other plants are already beginning to leaf out. 15 species of duck have been reported and three species of geese. Rufous-Crowned Sparrow, Lewis's Woodpecker, Osprey,  and Bald Eagle are possibilities. We will keep our eyes out for unusual birds that have overwintered or have begun migrating through the area.

The weather is projected to be in the mid 50s-60s. Warm clothes, jackets, water and binoculars are recommended. The rains have made the park soggy and muddy, so wear comfortable, sturdy hiking boots or shoes. Please dress appropriately.

Carpools are participant-organized; NSAS leaders will not necessarily be present. Carpools should depart the meeting location at the suggested time, so be early if you want to share a ride! There is no guarantee that there will be another individual arriving at the car pool location. Below is a list of the three suggested car pool locations and suggested times of departure.
