Presentation: The Napa River Benthic Macro Invertebrate Project

Mon, Oct 15th 2007, 7:00pm - 10:00pm
Institute for Conservation Advocacy, Research and Education (I.C.A.R.E.) presents:

"The Napa River Watershed and Bay Delta Community Restoration,
Education and Benthic Macro Invertebrate Sampling Project"

- Benthic macro invertebrate study reveals health of the Napa River watershed -

ICARE & Dr. Charley Dewberry are proud to present the Napa River Benthic macro invertebrate biological sampling results demonstrating the health of the Napa River and how land use effects water quality. Benthic macro invertebrates are aquatic insects that live in river and stream habitats. They are superb water quality indicators.

ICARE has just completed this amazing six year biological monitoring project and Dr. Dewberry, the lead scientist on the project, will present the final results and report to the public and resource agencies as interested stake holders. Over 160 property owners and numerous volunteers participated in this project to help improve the health
of the Napa River. These results will begin to answer such difficult questions such as:

· Is the Napa River healthy?
· If not, why not?
· What is a healthy river?
· Does land use effect water quality?
· What do these relationships look like in terms of biological integrity?

Dr. Dewberry won the 2004 International Thiess Riverprize for his work on the Siuslaw River Partnership. His presentation on the Napa River is not to be missed!
