Nature Walk: What does winter bring at Lake Solano?

Sat, Dec 3rd 2016, 10:00am - 12:00pm
Lake Solano County Park 8685 Pleasants Valley Rd Winters, CA 95694

Join Lake Solano Rangers and Docents for a free, guided nature walk, "What does winter bring at Lake Solano?," at Lake Solano Park on Saturday, December 3rd from 10AM to 12 noon.

Meet at the Lake Solano Nature Center to begin your stroll along the trails of Lake Solano Park with volunteer docent Cathi Christo.

Winter in this part of California can be a mild affair, but it still brings changes and challenges for local ecosystems. On this tour, we'll learn about the changes winter brings to different habitats around Lake Solano and observe the new bird species that spend the season here. Loaner binoculars will be available.

This event is a great opportunity to explore a local park that has much to offer: boating, picnic areas, wildlife viewing, and multiple hiking trails. Enjoy a day of strolling along Putah Creek while learning about local ecology and appreciating the beauty of this region.

These activities are appropriate for all ages, and families and groups are welcome. Please prepare for the weather and variable conditions by bringing water, wearing sturdy shoes, and dressing in layers. The tour will be rescheduled in the event of heavy rain. A camera and binoculars are recommended. Continue to enjoy the beautiful scenery by picnicking or renting a campsite for the weekend on a first-come, first-served basis.

Advance registration is recommended but not required. The day's activities are free, and parking is $6 per vehicle payable at the east entrance to the Park, on the day use side. For questions, call Karin Young at Putah Creek Council, 530-795-3006.
