Rainwater Harvesting Installation Workshop

Sat, Nov 12th 2016, 12:30am - 4:30pm
Oakland, CA

Rainwater harvesting is one way to create a more secure, local, and healthy water supply for your garden. Rather than depending on rivers (for Oakland, the Mokelumne) or groundwater, why not collect rainwater from your roof? With Oakland's average rainfall of 23", a 1000 square foot roof can yield almost 14,330 gallons of rainwater that's dying to be infiltrated in the soil! Wow, right?

Join Wholly H20 for a four hour rainwater harvesting installation. They're hoping this workshop might be the basis for creating an Oakland Water Wheel, where neighbors help one another install cisterns and construct rain gardens and infiltration basins.
