Craig Canyon – Thompson Canyon Hike

Sun, Nov 13th 2016, 9:00am - 12:00am
Cowboy Camp Parking Lot (Hwy 16 south just south of Hwy 20)

This is a moderate 10 mile hike starting and ending at the Cowboy Camp parking area. The first mile of the hike is relatively flat and may be a great start to the day for kids. However, the hike will become more strenuous when we cross Bear Creek – there is some elevation gain, water crossings and some rough terrain. This hike is OK for adults who are moderately well-fit.

To lead this hike, Tuleyome has enlisted the help of Dr. Geoff Benn. Dr. Benn earned his B.S. in crop sciences from the University of Illinois and his Ph.D. in Plant Biology from UC Davis where his research focused on understanding the mechanisms of how plants initiate rapid responses to damage. Possible topics of discussion include learning to identify tree species, plant adaptations to drought and the biology of lichens.

Note: All participants agree to abide by the terms and conditions of Tuleyome’s waiver of liability which can be seen and downloaded HERE. All participants also understand that photographs will be taken at the event. If you do not wish to be photographed, you must tell the photographer and avoid the cameras’ line of sight.

A $5 donation to Tuleyome is requested, but is not required to attend the event.
