The second largest order of mammal, living on every continent except Antarctica, is also among its least understood but most beneficial creatures. The Educational/Rehabilitation Director for the California Bat Conservation Fund, Patricia Winters' presentation – complete with three live bats -- will allay the myths, superstitions and misperceptions surrounding these misunderstood mammals. Then she'll supply facts about their ecological importance and the crucial roles bats play in many ecosystems as insect controllers, pollinators and seed dispersers.
