Bay Area Wide Watershed Coordination Meeting

Fri, Sep 29th 2006, 10:00am - 2:00pm
You're invited you to a meeting sponsored by the San Francisco Bay Joint Venture and the San Francisco Estuary Project to discuss Bay Area wide watershed coordination. A consensus among many watershed stakeholders has formed around the concept that those of us involved in the area of watershed planning, management and restoration need a common place to meet and coordinate our ideas, proposals and activities. We propose having an initial kickoff meeting to talk about this collaborative effort. The desired outcome is a general agreement on whether and how to proceed with establishing a mechanism or mechanisms for better ongoing coordination of the many watershed efforts currently underway in the Bay Area.

We are proposing a discussion based on the following questions:

What technical and research information do we need in the Bay Area to do successful watershed work?
How do we establish priorities and ensure accountability for limited resources for Bay Area watershed work?
How do we connect service providers with those who need them?
What institutions or organizations do or could exist for ongoing communication and mechanisms for addressing questions 1-3 (I.e., how do we develop a true watershed community in the Bay Area)?
How can we establish new sources of funding in the Bay Area (e.g., local bonds passed in Los Angeles and San Diego)?

We welcome your participation in this forum and look forward to working with you. We would greatly appreciate your RSVP to Sandy Scoggin at sscoggin@sfbayjv.org . If you have any questions or comments, please contact Dale Hopkins at dhopkins@waterboards.ca.gov or (510) 622-2362.
