Young Naturalist Hike

Sat, Sep 9th 2006, 10:00am - 12:00pm
The Carolyn Parr Nature Center is sponsoring "A Young Naturalist Hike" with Todd Adams Adams, who works for Napa's Flood Control District is an expert on the wetlands stretching from the end of South Jefferson to the Butler Bridge and he'll lead a hike for young naturalists (ages eight and older) through this South Wetlands Opportunity Area (SWOA) from 10 to noon. Parents and other adults are encouraged to join the group to hear Todd explain the importance of wetlands for both people and wildlife. The SWOA was created in 2000 to provide flood protection for the City of Napa and to restore wetland habitat for birds, fish, and other wildlife. Some of the more notable bird species found at the SWOA include Black-necked Stilts, Long-billed Curlews, Peregrine Falcons, and Burrowing Owls. Important items to bring on the hike include sturdy shoes, a hat, and water. Bring binoculars if you have them. For more information please contact Todd Adams at 251-3945.
