Stewards of the Working Landscape Tour

Sun, May 18th 2014, 1:00pm - 3:30pm
Cotati Highlands on Stoney Point Road Petaluma, CA

Join the Sonoma Resource Conservation District on Sunday, May 18th at 1 pm at Cotati Highlands as we venture onto this impressive vineyard property near the City of Cotati. Leading the tour will be two of Gallo's Vineyard Managers who will discuss topics including:

  • sustainability and land conservation
  • conservation of water resources through use of Recycled Wastewater from Santa Rosa's subregional system
  • development of environmentally sound vineyard practices
  • Gallo's "50/50 Give Back" plan

On land protected through a conservation easement from the Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District, the site offers exquisite rural vistas while serving as a greenbelt buffer between the City of Petaluma and Cotati. Established in 1994, the property became one of the Open Space District's first easement properties, protecting 317 valuable acres of Sonoma County farmland.

Come for a moderate hike on vineyard roads to overlook the 360 degree viewsheds of Two Rock, Cotati and Santa Rosa, while listening to cutting edge sustainable vineyard management practices geared towards the preservation of our natural resources.
