U.S. EPA, Napa County Announce Millions for Water Quality Improvements, Flood Damage Reduction, Northern California Salmon

Habitat restoration supports recovery of Central Coast steelhead trout, Chinook salmon and an extensive assemblage of native fish species.

The press conference will announce the details of an EPA grant as well as local and state funding to restore water quality, riparian and aquatic habitat in the Napa River watershed. Highlights include a pioneering private-public partnership designed to improve water quality and salmon habitat and address eroding streambanks within this important agricultural area.

The event will bring together landowners, local elected officials and partner agencies to celebrate restoration accomplishments and highlight recent funding. The grant funding source is $22 million appropriated since 2008 for San Francisco Bay, currently supporting 38 projects, with 53 organizations leveraging and matching more than $42 million.

U.S. EPA Regional Administrator Jared Blumenfeld and Napa County Supervisor Diane Dillon will be joined by key federal, state and local officials to provide details for this exciting project.
