Education and the Environment (EEI) Educators Workshop

Tue, Jun 7th 2011, 10:00am - 12:00pm
Pt. Reyes Bird Observatory, Petaluma

This is an introductory professional development workshop on the Education and Environment Initiative that updates providers on this new model curriculum now being used by schools throughout California.

What is EEI?

EEI is a K-12 replacement curriculum that offers a way to teach certain Science and History/Social Science content standards to mastery in an environmental context. The first of its kind in the nation, the California EEI Curriculum is an environment-based curriculum that is formally approved by the State Board of Education for use in classrooms statewide. The curriculum features 85 individual units that are aligned to more than 100 selected Science and History-Social Science academic content standards, while supporting English Language Arts standards for Kindergarten through 12th grade.

Who should attend?

This workshop is geared toward educational administrators, curriculum developers, and those working in the environmental education field. The workshop will address how non-formal providers' programs can support the new model curriculum. Learn how to support the EEI Learning Objectives in your program and how to use the audit tool to align and integrate your programs to EEI.

This is a free workshop and all participants will receive a DVD of the EEI Units.
