Napa County Weed Management Area Meeting

Wed, Jun 15th 2005, 12:00pm - 2:00pm
There will be a meeting of the Napa County Weed Management Area (WMA) from 12 to 2 p.m., on Wednesday, June 15, 2005, at the Napa County Agricultural Commissioner's Office (1710 Soscol Avenue, Suite #3, Napa). The first part of the meeting will be dedicated to general business, including finalization of a draft Memorandum of Understanding and strategic plan for the WMA. The second part of the meeting will be dedicated to planning for the upcoming Invasive Weed Awareness Week which will be July 18-22, 2005.

The Napa County Weed Management Area is a local organization that brings together landowners and other stakeholders for the purpose of coordinating and combining their actions and expertise to deal with their common weed control problems. WMAs are unique because they attempt to address agricultural and "wildland" weeds under one local umbrella of organization. The WMA functions under the authority of a mutually developed memorandum of understanding (MOU) and is subject to statutory and regulatory weed control requirements and is governed by a steering committee. A strategic plan is being developed to help define the activities and priorities of the WMA.

Those who wish, may bring their own food and have lunch with fellow weed warriors. Drinks and dessert will be provided. For additional information contact: Vicki Kemmerer at the Napa County Agricultural Commissioner's Office (707) 253-4357 or by e-mail at vkemmere@co.napa.ca.us.
