Long-term, large-scale restoration in California grasslands and oak woodlands

Fri, Nov 5th 2010, 8:30am - 4:30pm
3001 Plant and Environmental Sciences Building, UC Davis

A Workshop: Featured speaker will be Richard Hobbs, an international leader in the fields of restoration and landscape ecology, who has been involved in many long-term and large-scale restoration projects in Australia (on many sites which share the same exotic grassland species as we have in California), and has been studying short-to long-term changes in California’s grasslands for over 28 years. His work focuses on interactions between plant, animal and insect communities, with expertise ranging from genetic, population, community, ecosystem and landscape questions.

The day will consist of:

-          Richard Hobbs’ talk (in a discussion format)

-          1-2 other short talks to set the stage for what we know about current and future challenges to long-term and large-scale restoration in California’s grasslands and oak woodlands

-          Group discussions on known approaches and potential collaborations to improve our ability to manage at these scales

-          Catered lunch

-          An afternoon field trip and continued discussions at Russell Ranch

If you would like to attend all or part of this session, we need an RSVP by Friday October 29th by filling out the survey on the following website:
