Half-Day Work Party at Lake Berryessa

Sat, Jun 26th 2010, 9:00am - 12:00pm
Visitors Center Lake Berryessa 5520 Knoxville Road Napa County

Join Berryessa Trails and Conservation for another attack on invasive species on public land this coming Saturday at Lake Berryessa.

We'll be cutting down arundo and pulling out Spanish broom on public land below the Berryessa Pines residential area. We'll be pulling up stumps left from previous efforts and pulling resprouts. This will be the first chance to use our new weed wrenches.

You may remember this site from previous work parties. This is a multi-year project as arundo is tenacious and Spanish broom has a seedbed that lasts for years.

We'll have gloves, tools and drinks available.

Wear: boots or heavy shoes (no sandles), hat, sunblock or long sleeves & long pants
Bring: gloves and loppers, if you wish
Email: stewards@berryessatrails.org so we can plan enough drinks and gloves

Afterwords: You might spend the afternoon in Oak Shores Park at the Lake. There's swimming, nature trails, and picnicking. You can bring lunch, stop off at the deli in the Spanish Flat Country Store, or get a box lunch from Cucina Italiana. Visit the Visitors Center, check out the Water Education Station at Foxtail Flat in Oak Shores (you can borrow a life jacket there), go swimming at Acorn Beach or hike the Smittle Creek trail.

If you want to spend the weekend camping at Oak Shores Campground call 707.966.9363.
