Napa Valley Birdwatching Festival

Thu, Feb 24th 2005, all day
Napa, CA - This four day festival (Feb 24-27) consists of a series of birdwatching trips and nature walks that highlight the resident and migratory birds passing through the Napa Valley on their annual migration along the Pacific Flyway. Organizers and supporters of this festival hope to provide greater awareness of the wildlife residing and migrating through the tidal marshes of Napa County.

This four day event will consist of naturalist guided tours of specific areas, via all forms of transportation. There will be opportunities to visit wineries hosting habitats to exciting species of birds, or going on treks at night searching for owls. There will be fun, fresh air and interesting things to do for all ages and all levels of birdwatching.

Highlights of the festival include guided river cruises into Napa's "New Marsh", Hudeman's Slough / Skaggs Island aboard Napa River Adventures' environmentally friendly, quiet, electric-motor launches. Other highlights include guided walking tours and nighttime "owling" trips.
Members of the Napa Solano Audubon Society will be leading some of the trips, providing expert identification and education.

Another highlight will be the Photography Exhibition at the MJ Schaer Fine Art Gallery, located at 500 Main Street in the historic Hatt Building in Downtown Napa. Free and open to the public, award-winning photographers, Lowell Downey, Janna Waldinger of Art & Clarity Fine Photography, Todd Adams, John Bonick, and Donna Kopol-Bonick will be displaying some of their finest wildlife photos. The Artist Reception is at 3:00PM to 5:00PM on Friday, February 25 at the MJ Schaer Fine Art Gallery.
