Solano Water Institute for Teachers
Join us August 2022 for the 2nd Solano Water Institute for Teachers. This three day, field-trip based workshop highlights the preservation of Solano County open spaces and the region's complex water resources while providing first-hand experiential learning that teachers can share with their students for continued exploration.
Institute Overview:
Tour select Solano County open spaces with a focus on the specific challenges, opportunities, and the value that those spaces provide to the public.
Receive an experiential understanding of the complexity of Solano County's open spaces and water resources.
Discover the latest information on the diversity and richness of county parks from local specialists.
Participate in a 2022 Project WET Training and receive innovative, locally relevant water education training framed around NGSS.
Earn up to 21 hours of continuing education credit.
Take a boat tour of Lake Berryessa with a local water engineer.
Enjoy local food fare for snacks and lunches.
Receive a $250 stipend upon completion.
Participation Requirements:
K-12 teacher or informal/environmental educator.
Attend 3 days (7h/day) of training (snacks and lunch included).
Attend 1 half-day of post-training recap with individual presentations of how teachers utilized their training experience and curriculum.
Registrants must submit a $50.00 deposit (PayPal or check) by June 23rd that will be fully refunded upon completion of the Institute. Attendees must cancel their reservation by June 30, 2022 (subject to change) to receive their $50.00 deposit refund.
These plans are based on wide-spread vaccine implementation and current CDC models of covid-19 infection rates and state of California tier requirements.
Solano Water Institute for Teachers is funded by the Solano County Orderly Growth Committee, the California Department of Water Resources, Water Education Foundation, the cities of Vacaville, Fairfield, Dixon, Suisun City, Vallejo and Benicia, Fairfield-Suisun Sewer District, and Solano Irrigation District.
