Guided Nature Hike at Bray Canyon Bobcat Ranch

Sat, Apr 2nd 2022, 9:00am - 2:00pm
Bray Canyon at California Audubon's Bobcat Ranch

Join naturalist Marc Hoshovsky on a springtime exploration of Bray Canyon, located on California Audubon’s Bobcat Ranch in Putah Creek Canyon. This is a special guided walk on a 6,800-acre working ranch with restricted public access. Marc will help identify wildflowers and birds, and discuss the overall geology, fire history, and cultural history of the region. This will be a moderately strenuous hike, climbing 700 feet in about 2 miles on an old ranch road, and return the same way. The pace, however, will be quite reasonable, with several stops to look at natural history along the way. It will take about 3-4 hours, depending on how people are enjoying themselves.

Bobcat Ranch was acquired by Audubon California in 2007 to support conservation of California's iconic blue oak woodlands and rangelands. The 6800 acre wroking cattle ranch is a demonstration site for the Audubon Conservative Ranching Initiative. The ranch is home to a variety of birds and mammals and serves as a conservation anchor adjoining the Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument, Blue Ridge BLM Lands, the Putah Creek Wildlife Area, Stebbins Cold Canyon Reserve, and Cahill Reserve. Access to Bobcat Ranch is by permission only.
