Explore the stunning ecosystems of Sonoma Mountain with university faculty & other experts (virtually), with safe in-person access to Osborn Preserve. This new program is for new naturalists and veteran naturalists alike. As a naturalist, you will be welcomed into a community of volunteers who work on university research projects, and attend exclusive events, hikes, and private tours of SSU’s three preserves. Join a community working to eradicate Nature Deficit Disorder in the North Bay!
Trainings & programs are virtual. Independent Study (optional) is at SSU’s Fairfield Osborn Preserve, a 15-min drive from Sonoma State's main campus. You will be emailed further instructions after registration.
Registration is free of charge, and is capped at 40 participants.
Logistics
To participate, you must be available for five 1-hour Zoom training sessions on consecutive Sundays, February 14 - March 14 from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M. You must also attend five or more 1-hour programs with experts, and complete specialized training done independently (e.g., Environmental Education including creation of videos, Land Management, Independent Study).
No previous experience or knowledge is required. This program is for adults ages 18 and up and SSU students.

Sonoma State University’s Center for Environmental Inquiry empowers university students to work with community members on the environmental challenges of the North Bay. Our mission is to create an engaged and environmentally ready society, one where all people have the skills to find solutions to the challenges facing our earth. SSU Preserves are open to everyone engaged in education or research. Reservations are required.
