Tree Care at Lake Solano Park

Thu, Mar 19th 2020, 9:00am - 12:00pm
8685 Pleasants Valley Rd Winters, CA 95694

Join Putah Creek Council in a day of tree care of previously planted native trees at Lake Solano Park! We will check on each of our new trees to ensure they are properly protected and mulched. Mulching during these early years allows the trees to better retain water during these first years while they are trying to establish good root systems.

And we will add mulch to a series of past trees to help retain moisture, reduce weed maintenance and increase nutrients as the mulch breaks down.

We will also give pruning demonstrations to improve the health and beauty of park trees and to teach participants how to prune trees in homescapes.

  • We provide all the tools and supplies, including gloves (if you have a trusty pair of gloves bring them!)
  • We'll be meeting at 9:30 am at the upper parking lot and work until noon.
  • Please dress appropriately for the weather in clothes that can get dirty and closed-toe shoes. Don't forget your water bottle!
  • If you are under 18, you MUST bring this completed liability form with a parent's signature.
  • This event will happen rain or shine! Putah Creek Council will bring ponchos and mud boots if necessary.
