Online Environmental Literacy Conference
The California Regional Environmental Education Community (CREEC) Network is hosting its first online Environmental Literacy Conference on Wednesday January 22, 2020, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. This online conference will operate through Zoom Meeting links and include sessions sharing resources from a variety of projects that have worked to integrate state academic content standards, environmental literacy, and outdoor learning experiences into lessons with students or teacher training opportunities. The CREEC Network is a program of the California Department of Education (CDE).

Title: Welcome and Introduction to the CREEC Network
Presenters: Shannon Gordon and Bret States
Session Description: This session will introduce participants to the CDE's CREEC Network program, resources on the CREEC Network website, and ways the CREEC Network provides access to resources for teaching environmental education and environmental literacy to students in grades PreK–12.

Title: CAELI and Environmental Literacy Support for County and School District Leaders
Presenters: California Environmental Literacy Initiative (CAELI) Representatives
Session Description: County and School District Leaders will have the opportunity to deepen an understanding of environmental literacy, CAELI, and environmental literacy support of LCAP priorities.
Session Time: 2:00–3:20 p.m.
Title: The CLIC Website and Resources to Teach History Social Science, Civics, and Science with Environmental Literacy
Presenter: Phil Romig
Session Description: An interactive teacher-friendly session showing resources hosted on the CLIC website that can help teachers include environmental literacy in their history social science, civics, and science lessons.

Title: The Environmental Literacy and Teacher Preparation Project
Presenter: Katie Burns
Session Description: How can we support higher education faculty, administrators, and teacher leaders in their effort to implement environmental literacy in their courses and professional learning workshops? Learn more about efforts at Teachers College of San Joaquin to introduce pre-service and master's program faculty to the environmental principles and concepts, followed by collaborative discussions to reflect and identify opportunities to purposefully integrate environmental education in all course offerings.

Title: Using Citizen Science Platforms and Projects to Engage Students in Science and English Language Arts Lessons
Presenters: Deb Bruns and Peggy Harte
Session Description: A session for K–6 educators based on the work done in Yolo County using citizen science platforms and projects to engage students in lessons integrating Science and English Language Arts that involve gathering data on plants and animals on campus.

Title: Environmental Phenomenon and Student Discourse in Environmental Literacy
Presenter: Nate Fairchild
Session Description: Geared towards educators in grades K–8, this session will use the Phenomenal Science Website which includes teacher-developed lessons and professional development materials.

Title: Engaging Students Through Equity and Environmental Literacy
Presenter: Crystal Howe
Session Description: Geared towards educators in grades K–12, this session will explore how to use Environmental Literacy as a frame for equity in the classroom.
