Lecture: The Putah-Cache Bioregion Project Revisited

The Putah-Cache Bioregion Project was an integrated interdisciplinary suite of research and educational activities in the Putah and Cache Creek watersheds, the "home region" of UC Davis. This multi-year project involved faculty, students, and staff from diverse departments, and citizens from all parts of the two watersheds. The project led to the production of a web-based book, artwork, GIS maps, technical reports, and much more. Join us at this CreekSpeak event to learn from key project members - Prof. Rob Thayer, Prof. David Robertson, Prof. Peter Moyle, and Dr. Dennis Pendelton - about the work they put into this effort and its lasting impact. About our presenters:
David Robertson is Professor Emeritus of English at UC Davis and one of the founders of the Program in Nature and Culture. He is the author of West of Eden: A History of the Art and Literature of Yosemite and Real Matter, a book mainly about Jack Kerouac, Gary Snyder, and Mary Austin.
Dennis Pendleton is Dean Emeritus of UC Davis Extension. He served for 10 years as director of the Public Service Research Program, the administrative home of the Putah-Cache Bioregion Project, and has facilitated community watershed projects in the central and northern Sierra and the Klamath Basin.
Robert Thayer is Professor Emeritus of Landscape Architecture at UC Davis. He is the founder of the accredited UCD Landscape Architecture program and the author of LifePlace: Bioregional Thought and Practice. He has served on the boards of the Putah Creek Council and the Cache Creek Conservancy.
Peter Moyle is Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Fish Biology and continues to work on fish conservation issues at the Center for Watershed Sciences at UCD. He has interacted with the fishes of Putah Creek since the 1970s, as well as with the other speakers in this event.
The presentation begins at 7pm at the Davis Branch Library Blanchard Room (315 E. 14th Street, Davis). The talks alternate between Davis and Winters on the third Thursday of the month.
