Napa-Solano Audubon Society Field Trip: Mendocino Coast

Sat, Sep 21st 2019, all day
Laguna Point, MacKerricher State Park, Fort Bragg, CA

Leaders: Ryan Keiffer and Marisela da Santa Anna, Peregrine Audubon Society

Meet: 9:00 in the parking lot of Laguna Point, MacKerricher State Park, Fort Bragg, CA

Details:  We will bird Laguna Point then head off to other hot spots in the area such as: Ten Mile Beach at Ward Ave., Virginia Creek Beach, Glass Beach, Noyo Headlands/Noyo Harbor, Rose Memorial Park, Mendocino Headlands. Places we do not get to on Saturday we may go to on Sunday on the way home. Fall brings many wintering birds and migrants throughout the area. We will be joined by members of the Peregrine Audubon Society.

What to bring: September along the coast can be very pleasant, but be prepared for cool foggy weather (just in case, particularly in the morning). We will be walking some so good shoes, hat, sunscreen, water and snacks. Spotting scopes should come in handy.

Directions: Drive approximately 3 miles north from Fort Bragg to Mill Creek Rd. (the Purple Rose Mexican Restaurant will be on the northwest corner of the road).  Turn left (west) onto Mill Creek Rd. and follow it approximately 1 mile to the parking lot at Laguna Point.

Lunch: We will be eating in the field so bring a lunch.

There is a limit of 15 people, please RSVP by Monday September 16, 2019
