Strategies for adapting watershed ecosystems to climate change

Fri, Oct 16th 2009, all day
Join us for the Third State of the Laguna Conference and Science Symposium -- Meeting the Challenge - Strategies for adapting watershed ecosystems to climate change.

Help us to generate science-based climate change adaptation strategies for Laguna de Santa Rosa ecosystem conservation, restoration, and management in this interactive forum!

Using the Laguna as a case study, we hope to inspire and empower our region's resource managers, environmental scientists, policy-makers, agricultural practitioners, stakeholders and funding organizations to move forward together with new resolve.

By the end of the conference we will have:
- explored breakthrough climate change modeling techniques able to downscale to the watershed level;
- dialogued on the complexities of choosing appropriate strategies for restoration, conservation, and natural resource management; and
- prioritized strategies, tools, and next steps to prepare for the future and current challenge posed by climate change.

You should attend if you are:
- a scientist working to inform and guide the restoration and conservation of natural resources and watershed ecosystems under climate change
- a policy maker who wants to help your community be prepared to adapt to climate change and protect your natural resources
- a land owner/manager in the agricultural, public or private sector who wants to understand what science is available to guide resource management in the face of climate change
- a funding organization or financial supporter who wants to learn what's needed to make your conservation and restoration projects most effective in the face of climate change
- a student, professor, business or community member who wants to understand how the Laguna de Santa Rosa and other watersheds could be impacted by climate change, and how to be able to help.
