Davis hosts 35th salmon restoration conference

The theme of this year’s conference is “Restoring Watersheds and Rebuilding Salmon Runs.” The conference is set for March 29 through April 1.

The conference agenda will highlight innovative efforts to restore legacy watersheds, salmon reintroduction to historical habitats, and efforts to revive and restore ecological function to Central Valley working landscapes.

Workshops will include fish passage from tidewater to the Sierra; the state of beaver restoration in California, what has been learned about West Coast floodplains: Lessons from the landscape; and evaluating salmon habitat and watershed conditions to inform salmonid recovery actions.

Field tours will include Watershed Day at the Capitol, a legislative tour of Sacramento, a rafting tour of Stanislaus River restoration sites; Yolo Bypass and Putah Creek Restoration Projects; American River gravel augmentation and floodplain restoration sites, and a multi-use floodplain projects in the Lower Sacramento Valley.
