The California Land Stewardship Institute, a Napa-based conservation group, has completed a habitat and water quality restoration plan for nine miles of the Napa River between the Oakville Cross Road and Oak Knoll Avenue. The plan is the product of three years of scientific field study, landowner involvement and resource agency review. The Oakville to Oak Knoll Restoration Plan will create a total of 52 acres of new riparian and aquatic habitats in its first set of actions by converting weedy uplands, fallow fields and some vineyard back to a variety of habitats. This level of restoration represents one of the largest river restoration projects in the Bay Area.
