Animal Welfare Approved Certification workshop
Animal Welfare Approved (AWA), a free, third-party certifier, is the most highly regarded food label when it comes to animal welfare, pasture-based farming and sustainability. UCCE Sonoma County is hosting a workshop with AWA on September 8, 5:30pm at their office: 133 Aviation Blvd, Suite 109, Santa Rosa.
AWA's Beth Spitler will speak about how third-party certification can help differentiate high-welfare pasture- and range-based producers and the wide range of free resources and services available to AWA farmers, including AWA's Good Husbandry Grants.
UCCE Livestock and Range Management Advisor, Dr. Stephanie Larson, will address overall animal production and rangeland health.
