Questions about Napa's new plastic bag ordinance?

Attend a "how-to" workshop for local business

This summer, the Napa City Council unanimously passed a single-use bag reduction ordinance that will go into full effect on January 1, 2015. We recognize that local businesses may have questions about the ordinance details and its implementation and may need help communicating to employees and customers about the new law.

The City of Napa and Sustainable Napa County are hosting two information workshops in November — Napa's Plastic Bag Ordinance: A "How-to" Workshop for Local Business. Workshop registration is easy, just click on the link below for your chosen date.

Wednesday, November 5, 9:00-10:00am

Wednesday, November 12, 4:30-5:30pm

Information covered in the workshop will include helpful tips for communicating with employees and customers about the new law, frequently asked questions (and the answers) about the ordinance, a list of vendors who produce paper bags with the correct recyclable content as well as those who produce reusable bags, fun ideas for helping customers remember their reusable bags, and more. In addition, we will be asking businesses for input on the types of materials and information they need to make the transition as easy as possible now and after the ordinance goes into effect.

A Business Toolkit containing important information about the topics covered in the workshop, and materials that can be reproduced, will be available for download.

Any local business is welcome to send someone to the workshop. It is a "train the trainer" format so one or two key representatives are encouraged to attend and then take information back to employees and/or business owners.
