Leader:Murray Berner

Description:There is a lot of activity at Huichica Creek this time of year--big flocks of white birds, gulls and terns, migrating ducks and shorebirds including Semi-palmated Sandpiper, Pintail and Snowy Plover. This is a 2.3 mile loop on level ground through salt ponds, marsh, and grassland. We might hurry out the first 1/2 mile to an area of interesting shorebird activity. In the fog with a wind, it can be chilly early in the morning.

Facilities are in the parking lot. Bring lunch, money for carpool gas, comfortable walking shoes, binoculars, and layers. We will return at 1 p.m.

Directions:Napa carpool departs at 7:30 a.m. from the east side of Sweeney's Sport Shop in Riverpark shopping center. Riverpark is on Imola Ave. between Jefferson and Coombs Streets. On your own from Napa take Hwy 12 west, turn left on Duhig Road, left on Las Amigas Road, and right on Buchli Station Road. Buchli Station Road ends and turns to gravel; keep going to the parking lot just over the railroad tracks.
