Free Discovery Day at Bothe Napa State Park

Sun, Jul 27th 2014, 8:00am - 5:00pm
Bothe Napa State Park and Bale Grist Mill State Historic Park

PARK DISTRICT’S FIRST-EVER “FREE DISCOVERY DAY” (8AM-5PM) and everyone’s invited! On Sunday, July 27, Bothe-Napa Valley State Park will host an “open house” offering a variety of outdoor activities for all ages (from 10AM-2PM), including guided and self-guided hikes or bike rides, hands-on art, information exhibits, foods trucks, picnicking, and yoga all focused around a “Trail Village” of partner organizations. This Free Discovery Day invites everyone to discover—or re-discover—Napa Valley’s extraordinary State Park jewels.

At noon, the Bay Area Ridge Trail Council, with local partners including the Vine Trail and Park District, will dedicate a new trail hub—the Bothe Trail Junction—with speeches and a ribbon-cutting to celebrate Bothe’s Redwood Trail becoming the newest 3 miles of official Ridge Trail in the Council’s planned 550-mile trail along the ridgelines surrounding San Francisco Bay. This junction also marks the boundary between the Vine Trail’s St. Helena section and its Calistoga route, shared with the Ridge Trail, which will cross the valley to Lower Oat Hill Mine Trail.

(Entrance to neighboring Bale Grist Mill State Historic Park will also be free 10AM-4PM)
