Document: NAPA RIVER SALMON MONITORING PROJECT, SPAWNING YEAR 2006 REPORT
2006 spawner survey of the Napa River, conducted following California
Department of Fish & Game protocols as described in the California
Salmonid Stream Habitat Restoration Manual (Appendix A).
The Napa County Resource Conservation District (RCD) initiated an
ongoing salmon monitoring program in 2003 to assess Chinook abundance,
distribution, and spawning success within the Napa River basin. This
year’s monitoring included genetic analysis of tissue samples collected
from recovered carcasses to determine the relationship between Napa
River Chinook and other known stocks.
